The Flag of Compassion Travels to Russia
This time, the Flag of Compassion travels with Andreas Koch and myself to Russia and lands in the hands of Igor Osetsimsky.
Igor lives in Moscow, in his apartment next to Bolshoi Theatre. His home hosts over 300 pieces of art from one of the most controversial and explosive periods in Russian art – from Perestroika to nowadays. This was the period when artists broke out from dogmatism of Soviet creativity and inhaled the freedom, extravagance, and provocative humor in their works.
Igor’s wife Galina, who had a natural feel for art and esthetics and an exquisite taste, started the collection over 25 years ago. After Galina passed away, Igor kept her collection alive and further enriched it. The memory of Galina lives in Igor’s heart and in every painting and object that he cherishes.
The Flag of Compassion marks this beautiful story of Love and Compassion.
